Who I Am + Why I Do This

IMG_3835.jpeg

Hi, I’m Kat Thompson

I’m a Certified Fertility & Loss Doula, a Certifying Childbirth Educator, and after 6 years of supporting individuals and families, I’m currently certifying as a Birth & Postpartum Doula (trained through both DONA and Doula Canada). While certification is a new chapter for me, this work isn’t — I’ve been walking alongside families for years.

I chose to certify with Doula Canada because their commitment to inclusion and accountability reflects the values I bring to every client relationship and that matters.

My path to this work began 10 years ago after my own traumatic birth experience. It later expanded into the fertility and loss world after 6.5 years of unexplained infertility and multiple miscarriages. I’ve walked the silent, confusing, and lonely roads and now I walk beside others, so they don’t have to go it alone.

I’m trained and certified across fertility, birth, loss, postpartum, VBAC, infant sleep, trauma-informed care, and inclusive wellness and holistic practices. I support solo parents, couples, diverse relationship dynamics, 2SLGBTQIA+ families, religious and non-religious folks, and those navigating neurodivergence because support should never come with conditions.

When I’m not working with clients, I’m still supporting others. With 25 years of experience as a C-level Executive Assistant and lifelong learner, I’m always growing to better serve the people I work with.

Testimonials

What They’re Saying

"I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be a part of our journey with our son. She was incredibly helpful and always there for us when we needed advice. I would 100% recommend Kat’s services. She has been a lifesaver for us!" - D.B & M.H.

I humbly acknowledge that I reside and operate on Treaty 7 territory—the traditional and ancestral lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani Nations), the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley). This land is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, within the historical Northwest Métis Homeland.

I recognize and honour the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who have lived on and cared for these lands for generations. I express my gratitude to the Traditional Knowledge Keepers, Elders — past and present — and the ongoing resilience of Indigenous communities.

As part of my commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, I strive to educate myself, listen, and support Indigenous voices in my work. This includes advocating for culturally respectful care, acknowledging intergenerational trauma, and fostering safe, inclusive spaces for Indigenous families on their fertility, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journeys.

Your path is uniquely yours, and I am here to walk beside you with compassion, knowledge, and respect.
