Supporting You Through Every Chapter. With Heart, Lived Experience & Specialized Care
Hi, I’m Kat, a Calgary-based doula supporting people through fertility, pregnancy, loss, birth, and postpartum.
I’m a Certified Fertility Doula, Certified Pregnancy & Infant Loss Doula, and Birth & Postpartum Doula, as well as a Childbirth Educator in training.
But more than anything, I’m someone who gets how heavy, confusing, and emotional these journeys can be.
How I Got Here
This work is deeply personal to me.
After a traumatic birth with my first child, I felt how overwhelming it can be to move through something so big without the right support. That experience is what led me to become a doula in the first place.
Then came a 6.5-year journey through secondary unexplained infertility, and that opened my eyes in a whole different way. TTC can feel incredibly isolating, especially when answers are unclear and support is limited.
I didn’t want anyone else to feel as alone as I did.
So I built this work around being the kind of support I wish I had.
Who I Support
I support all kinds of people and families across Calgary and beyond.
Whether you’re:
-
trying to conceive
-
navigating infertility or loss
-
preparing for birth
-
adjusting to postpartum life
You’re welcome here, exactly as you are.
I also have a lot of experience supporting:
-
neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, Autism, AuDHD)
-
high-risk pregnancies
-
queer and non-traditional families
My Approach
I’m not about one-size-fits-all care.
I care about:
-
creating emotional safety
-
giving you information without overwhelm
-
supporting you without judgment
-
respecting who you are and what matters to you
You know yourself best.
I’m just here to walk beside you, help you sort through things, and make sure you feel seen and supported along the way.
Training & Background
Alongside lived experience, I’ve completed training in:
-
Fertility support (CFD)
-
Pregnancy & infant loss support (CPAILD/CIPLD)
-
VBAC support (CVD - TVL)
-
Birth & postpartum doula care (DONA trained, certifying with Doula Training Canada)
-
Childbirth education (in progress)
-
Infant sleep & acupressure for colic and gas
I also have a background in nutrition, fertility counselling, and trauma-informed care.
And before all of this, I spent 25+ years as an Executive Assistant—so I bring a lot of organization, structure, and calm into the support I offer.
Why This Matters to Me
You deserve support that feels safe, affirming, and actually tailored to you—not something generic.
I created Embracing the Journey so that no one has to feel invisible, dismissed, or alone in these experiences.
Whatever your journey looks like, I’m here for it.
